JUSTICE FOR INJURED WORKERS

Legal Defence Fund

Everyday in Ontario, hundreds of men and women are injured at work.
This could happen to anyone.
No one is immune.

This is about standing up for the backbone of families in Ontario, the people we love - who love us. Men and women who are injured or made sick at work aren't statistics. They have names, hopes and dreams, people relying on them. And the Workplace Safety and Insurance Board (WSIB) is turning their back on all of that. On them and on you. It's not right, it's not just, it's not even legal.

Stand up to them! Donate now to help create the JUSTICE FOR INJURED WORKERS LEGAL DEFENCE FUND. With your help, we'll fight tooth and nail for justice for every worker in Ontario!

Why do we need the JUSTICE FOR INJURED WORKERS LEGAL DEFENCE FUND?

The WSIB is supposed to be here to help people who have been injured at work. But over the last 20 years, government and WSIB have been cutting benefits to injured workers, and it’s getting worse. When WSIB denies someone their benefits, lives are shattered. People – mothers, fathers, sisters, brothers – are losing their homes, their families, their dignity, and even their will to live. It’s not right. It’s also not too late. You can help!

Already, individuals and organizations have donated $10,000. But it's simply not enough to pursue a legal case about WSIB in court. That's why we need your help right now. Whether you give $5 or $5000, you can be part of history! Thanks to your contribution, all workers in Ontario will be able to have peace of mind knowing that the Justice for Injured Workers Legal Defence Fund is on their side, fighting tooth and nail for workers’ rights.

It's true. Any one of us alone can’t fight the WSIB. But we mustn’t cower or surrender – they’ll take what little injured workers have left.

Please, donate now to create the Legal Defence Fund – you *can* protect and defend injured workers’ rights!

About the LEGAL DEFENCE FUND

The mission of the Legal Defence Fund: To help workers protect and restore their collective rights.

This isn't about self interest. Or profit. It's about you and your friends and family. It's about securing your future if anything should make you sick or injured at work.

Why we need your help

By now, you're probably wondering why we need your help. And what impact you could possibly have.

Let us explain.

There is strength in numbers. It's takes a lot of people -- determined, hardworking, brave -- to stand up to the WSIB. The WSIB has money (and a lot of it thanks to their penny pinching, profit-driven ways of denying workers benefits). They have resources. They have the ear of the government.

We can have that too - but only with your help. And more.

In December 2002, Ontario injured workers, community legal clinics and labour participated in a successful workers' compensation appeal on the recognition of chronic pain disability [Martin and Laseur v N.S. WCB] before the Supreme Court of Canada. The landmark 2003 decision confirmed the right to equality before the law of people with chronic pain disability across Canada.

It takes money to pursue and win these kinds of cases. Cases that secure your human rights. Cases that have so much at stake.
Please donate now.

PLEASE NOTE: Due to the legal constrictions on achieving  Charitable Status in Canada, donations to this cause cannot be used a Charitable Donation Tax Credits. Specifically, this may be considered a "Political Action" and our government does not allow Charitable Status for organizations involved in 'too much political action'...
